Luke Littler says he does not know how he will perform at the Flanders Open this weekend after undergoing emergency dental treatment. The 18-year-old had a tooth removed on Thursday at an emergency dentist in Manchester after being “in pain for hours and hours”.

Littler is normally doing the ‘taking out’ at the oche, but was left “in shock and shaken” after his trip to the dentist’s chair. The world champion is flying to Belgium on Friday ahead of the European Tour event in Antwerp, where he will aim to win a third title.

Littler said on his Instagram story: „In pain for hours and hours, so had to get tooth out.

„Luckily they were able to do it and sort me out but hopefully it’s all good for Saturday. Everyone knows I love Belgium and hopefully I can play my best darts.“

And the darts sensation had a message for anyone that saw him travelling to Belgium. The teenager wasn’t planning on being too sociable after the shock of having a tooth removed.

„I don’t know how i’m going to be feeling In the morning whether I’m gonna be in a little bit of pain but if you see me in airport I’m just gonna have my airpods in and I’m gonna be doing my own thing.

„So don’t be saying I’m arrogant because I’m not I’ve never had this done and idk how I’m gonna be feeling but right now I’m in shock and shaken as I didn’t know what to expect.“

Littler will play the winner of Dylan Slevin or Francois Schweyen on Saturday. The world champion is not alone in having a dramatic build up however.

Gerwyn Price is also hoping to feature after he was hospitalised earlier in the week with an infected hand. The 2020 world champion posted pictures of himself hooked up to a drip and struggling to get a bed in hospital, but looks set to play in Belgium.

The Welshman’s hand was severely swollen but he is also planning on making the trip to Flanders with £30,000 on the line. Price has the opportunity to win back-to-back PDC European Tour events.

The 40-year-old claimed victory at the Baltic Sea Darts Open in July, where he saw an 8-3 win over Gary Anderson in the final. If Price is able to repeat that run, it would see him win back-to-back events on the European circuit for the first time in nearly two-and-a-half years.
