Alexander Isak’s final WhatsApp message to Newcastle stars before Liverpool move leaked

Alexander Isak’s final message to the Newcastle WhatsApp group paid tribute to the memories they’d made with the players holding no ill-feeling after his Liverpool switch

Alexander Isak has left Newcastle but ended on good terms with his team-mates

Alexander Isak’s final message into the Newcastle WhatsApp group was to thank them for the memories they made together with Dan Burn admitting „there is no animosity.“

The Swede pushed for a summer exit, eventually getting his way on deadline day as he moved to Liverpool in a British-record deal. Isak was left out of Newcastle’s first three games of the Premier League season and was told to train on his own away from the first-team.

The striker copped criticism for his actions as he continued to push for the exit door, later making it clear that he felt he played his last game for the club. Isak would eventually release a statement accusing the club of broken promises.

Newcastle’s players continue to be quizzed on the Isak saga whenever they face the media as they waited to see whether he would remain at St James‘ Park or not. Burn though insists the club have got a good deal and they all ended on good terms.

The England international said: „Alex is my mate at the end of the day, so it was a tough situation, but I’m glad that we’re getting a good return on a player that we’ve had, and he’s getting the move that he wanted.

„He put a message in the chat just saying that he was leaving, and thanks for the memories, all that sort of stuff, and the lads replied. Yeah, of course (it was all positive). But as I said, I think Alex is getting what he wants, and now we’ve just got to focus and do what we can with the players that we’ve got.

„It has brought us closer, really. I’m not silly, I’ve been around football a long time and people have short careers. They want to max out absolutely everything they can, so there’s no hard feelings from me. I have nothing but good wishes for Alex. I understand why our fans are frustrated, but there is no animosity.“

Burn and Isak were the two men to score in last season’s Carabao Cup final as Newcastle shocked Liverpool to claim their first trophy in 70 years. The Swede’s departure was made slightly easier by the late arrivals of Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa, who bolster the forward line.

Newcastle are keen to move on from the saga with new signing Anthony Elanga insisting they’ve added quality despite losing Isak. He said: “It has been chill. He had a contract with us and right now he is with Liverpool. We all think he is a very good player. We lost a good player but we also signed good players. Hopefully we can look forward and focus on this season.”
