The Pittsburgh Steelers made some big moves in the offseason.
That’s why Ben Roethlisberger is more bullish on his former team than most people.
On his podcast, the legendary quarterback declared that the Steelers are a legitimate championship contender.
“This team is built to go to the Super Bowl. They built this team to make a run right now. Could it happen? Absolutely. There’s some other really good teams out there, though. I think this is the year we get our first postseason win in a long time,” Roethlisberger said.

The Steelers traded for Jalen Ramsey and D.K. Metcalf and signed Aaron Rodgers.
That would’ve propelled them to Super Bowl contention three or four years ago, but that might not be the case now.
Ramsey and Rodgers are likely Hall of Famers, but even though they can still contribute, they’re no longer at the peak of their powers.
As for Metcalf, he’s a productive player who never really took the next step into stardom.
Whatever the case, Pittsburgh should be competitive, and head coach Mike Tomlin doesn’t have a losing season, but going from that to a Super Bowl title is a stretch.
The Steelers can count on their defense to be physical, get to the quarterback and create turnovers.
But the offense will have to do its part, and that’s not guaranteed.
Their young offensive line has potential but hasn’t always lived up to it.
Also, it remains to be seen how Rodgers operates in coordinator Arthur Smith’s run-heavy offense.
The Steelers are an intriguing team, and it’s not usually wise to count out Tomlin, but for now, they should be considered a bit of a long shot.
