Today is a sad day for the Minnesota Vikings, the Oregon Ducks, the NFL, and sports as a whole.

We’ve lost a promising player, but more importantly, we’ve lost a life.

Vikings rookie CB Khyree Jackson passed away in Maryland after being involved in a fatal car crash overnight.

The Vikings took to Twitter to share this devastating news and their condolences to his family, teammates, coaches, and everybody who got to know him.

Needless to say, fans from all teams rallied together to share their thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the Vikings organization and Jackson’s family during these challenging times.

The 24-year-old had quit football in 2017 and got a job at a local grocery store before coming back in 2019.

He started his collegiate career at the junior college level by joining the Fort Scott Greyhounds.

Then, he joined the Alabama Crimson Tide for a couple of years before spending his final collegiate season with the Oregon Ducks.

Jackson was taken by the Vikings in the fourth round of the NFL Draft, and he had drawn very positive reviews during OTAs and training camp.

Despite his lack of experience, he was expected to have a prominent role on Kevin O’Connell’s team right out of the gate.

Of course, that should be the last thing on any of the people involved with the organization’s minds, as football is clearly not as important as any life.

This is an ongoing story and no further details have been disclosed, and we’ll share more updates as they’re reported.
