Gary Neville has voiced his concerns for the rest of the Premier League, insisting Liverpool will score a „bucket load“ of goals once Alexander Isak joins the club. Following one of the most dramatic transfer sagas in Premier League history, the Reds have finally struck a £125 million agreement with Newcastle to secure the Swedish star’s services at Anfield.

Their initial offer, worth £120m, was rebuffed at the beginning of August, but Newcastle’s resolve crumbled under Isak’s relentless campaign to engineer his departure. The anticipated capture of the Sweden international comes hot on the heels of the Reds‘ win over Arsenal on Sunday – a result that has propelled them to two points clear at the top of the table after three games.

Speaking on his self-titled podcast following Liverpool’s victory against Mikel Arteta’s side, Neville revealed his apprehension for Liverpool’s rivals that the Reds‘ firepower is about to reach stratospheric levels with Isak’s acquisition.

„If Isak comes in, they’re going to score an absolute bucket load of goals,“ Neville said. The 25-year-old is poised to pen a six-year contract with the Premier League champions and represents the second striker to join the club following Liverpool’s capture of French attacker Hugo Ekitike in July, as per the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds beat Bournemouth at home and Newcastle away before defeating Arsenal, and Neville reckons they’re perfectly positioned to kick on this season, particularly if they can wrap up a move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi before Monday’s 7pm deadline.

„The two games they’ve just played – they have a right battle at St James‘ Park and to come out of there with a victory was incredible,“ Neville added.

„To do this today, that must give them massive confidence. If they can get Isak and Guehi through the door, they’re two starting players.

„Isak is one of the top centre-forwards in the world. He’s a real player. He’s the one player I’ve seen give [William] Saliba and Gabriel and Virgil van Dijk a real hard time over the last couple of seasons. He’s really caused them problems. He’s a different-level player.

„Isak coming into that team today, with Guehi coming in as well – for Liverpool to be on nine points with the two games they’ve had and think those two could be entering the building off the back end of the international break, they’ll be absolutely buzzing and confident as hell.“

Following a drawn-out transfer saga that witnessed Isak refuse to play for Newcastle and withdraw from the Magpies‘ pre-season schedule, plus their opening fixtures of the new season, he is finally set for Anfield after the completion of his medical.

Newcastle’s successful pursuit of Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade and their potential deal for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa have paved the way for Isak to make his move to Liverpool. Guehi, who is in the last year of his contract with Crystal Palace, presents a more challenging acquisition for Liverpool as time ticks away.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner recently insisted that the defender must stay put if they are to build on their FA Cup triumph from the previous season. It’s reported that Palace are holding out for £40m after Liverpool made a bid of £35m plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause on Saturday.
