MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Pilipinas Youth got their rhythm back in time to notch their first win in the Fiba U16 Asia Cup on Monday.
The Gilas cadets notched a 65-60 win over Indonesia at MBank Arena in Mongolia for their first win in the continental competition.

The young Nationals bounced back after taking a 106-82 whipping from Chinese Taipei on Sunday.
Ethan Tan-Chi made sure Gilas won’t drop to 0-2 after leading the Philippines with 12 points, five rebounds and a steal.
Backstopping Tan-Chi were Joel Pascual and Nickson Cabañero, who scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Brian Orca Jr. also crashed the boards for Gilas with a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with four points.

Miracle Christiano’s double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds went down the drain for Indonesia, which also drew another 13 points from Muhamad Fakhirzal Firdaus.
Gilas Youth at 1-1 is behind Chinese Taiepi and New Zealand in Group B standings.
The Filipinos and Kiwis face off later at 4:30 p.m. Gilas needs a victory over New Zealand, unbeaten after two games, to advance to the next round.
