It might be time to get excited, Swifties.
Appearing on the TODAY show Wednesday morning, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the possibility of mega pop star Taylor Swift performing the halftime show at Super Bowl LX.
„We would always love to have Taylor play,“ Goodell said. „She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome any time.“
Goodell offered no further details, saying, „I can’t tell you anything about it, when host Savannah Guthrie asked if anything was already in the works. But when Guthrie asked, „Is it a maybe?“ he replied, „It’s a maybe.“
Another host, Craig Melvin, then asked Goodell when fans could expect an announcement. The commissioner joked, „I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z. It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.“ Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation, produces the Super Bowl halftime shows.
Super Bowl LX is set for Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
Speculation about Swift performing the Super Bowl halftime has circulated for years, but it was reignited recently after she appeared on an episode of New Heights, the podcast hosted by her now-fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, in August.
During the episode, Swift said she has watched every Super Bowl halftime show. She also mentioned making sourdough bread “60 per cent of the time,” which many fans took as a possible ‚Easter egg‘ referring to the 60th Super Bowl, taking place at the home of the San Francisco 49ers, whose mascot is Sourdough Sam.
Swift announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, on the episode as well, which is set for release on Oct. 3.
