The dust is still settling around Old Trafford after a busy deadline day at Manchester United. But it wasn’t just late in the window when the Red Devils were active, it was all summer.

Amorim’s side got off to a rapid start to the transfer window by signing Matheus Cunha on the very first day. United paid Wolves £62.5million, triggering the Brazilian forward’s release clause.

Next up were two youngsters. Left wing-back Diego Leon, 18, joined from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno for an initial £3.3m, although the deal could rise to £7m.

Enzo Kana-Biyik followed on a free transfer from Le Havre, who are famous for their academy products. Unlike Leon, the 18-year-old French forward has gone into United’s academy setup.

In the background, United were working on a deal for Bryan Mbeumo. After weeks of fraught negotiations with Brentford, the Red Devils finally reached an agreement to pay an initial £65m plus £6m in potential add-ons.

When August came, Amorim wasn’t done adding to his attack, beating Newcastle to the signing of Benjamin Sesko. Although Newcastle were willing to pay a higher fee, the player’s preference to join United resulted in a £66.3m move, with a further £7.4m in add-ons.

Finally, the focus turned to the opposite end of the pitch. After holding talks with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, the Red Devils ultimately looked to the future, signing 23-year-old Belgian Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp in a deal which could rise to £21.7m.

Deadline day was more about departures. Antony finally completed a permanent move to Real Betis for £22m, with United negotiating a 50 per cent sell-on clause.

Rasmus Hojlund completed his loan move to Napoli, who’ve paid a £5m loan fee and will sign him permanently for £38m should the Italian title holders qualify for the Champions League. Also going out on a loan was Jadon Sancho, joining Villa, who’ll cover 80 per cent of his wages but don’t have an option to buy.
