Mel Kiper Jr. Reveals His Honest Thoughts About Drew Allar

The NFL season hasn’t even started, yet some teams are already keeping tabs on the 2026 NFL Draft.

The upcoming class will be full of talent, especially at the quarterback position.

And while most of the talk has been centered around Arch Manning, the young signal-caller might choose to return to Texas for another season.

Even if that’s not the case, Penn State star Drew Allar will give him a run for his money as the first quarterback off the board.

At least, that’s how Mel Kiper Jr. feels.

Talking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” the renowned draft analyst tipped his hat to the Nittany Lions star, predicting that he could be a top-10 selection in next year’s draft.

“He could be in line to be a top-10 pick, maybe one of the top two, three picks overall [in the NFL Draft],” Kiper said.

Kiper has been wrong a time or two, but that’s just the way things go when you’ve been doing this for so long.

Some scouts believe that Allar could’ve been a first-round selection in this year’s draft.

Instead, he chose to return to college.

He completed 66.5% of his passes for 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions while adding six rushing touchdowns.

The Nittany Lions enter this season as the No. 2 team in the nation, which is easy to understand if you consider that Allar will enter his third season as a starter.

Allar has the physical tools to be a first-round selection.

And while a lot could still go sideways and a lot has to happen first, multiple teams will most definitely keep tabs on everything he does on and off the field this season.
