There was a lot of attention paid to Joel Embiid’s absence the other night as his Philadelphia 76ers faced off against the Denver Nuggets.

Fans were upset to see the reigning MVP miss out on a game versus Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.

But it was more than just the fans who were paying close attention, the NBA was watching too.

Shams Charania is reporting that the league has fined the 76ers $75,000 for violation of injury reporting regarding Embiid’s absence on Saturday versus the Nuggets.

Embiid has had a rough week.

He missed two games because of injury: the one against the Nuggets on Saturday and the next game against the Portland Trail Blazers days later.

He then rejoined the team for their face-off against the Golden State Warriors but suffered another injury in that game and is now going to be out for their upcoming game against the Utah Jazz.

The 76ers have now lost four games in a row.

The league didn’t find any violation of the player participation policy because Embiid’s injury was confirmed and he really is hurt.

But the team failed to meet the standards laid out by the NBA and that will cost them.

In the grand scheme of things, $75,000 isn’t that much to the 76ers.

The bigger problem is that Embiid is having a hard time staying healthy and it’s now costing the team wins.

They have fallen to the fifth seed in the East with a 29-17 record and will next face the Jazz followed by the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, and Golden State Warriors again.
