Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani had another stellar outing from the mound on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants.
He pitched six innings in which he conceded just one unearned run, lowering his ERA to an incredible 3.17 and taking his record to a solid 10-5.
You wouldn’t believe that Ohtani had a very solid outing if you asked him, though.
“Shohei Ohtani said he was ‘frustrated’ with the way that he was pitching. He pitched 6 innings without allowing an earned run,” Angels insider Sam Blum tweeted.

As it turns out, he handed three walks and struck out “just” five, which is a little lower than his usual output.
Still, it was a fantastic outing and Ohtani’s reaction just goes to show how demanding he is with himself.
He works and trains to be truly great, and he is.
It’s okay if he can strike out 10 hitters every time he takes the mound: in the truly important stuff, which is run prevention in this case, he passed the test with flying colors.
The Angeles ended up winning, 4-1, so they took their record to 58-58.
After losing every game after the trade deadline, they have finally won two in a row.
The negative streak really affected their chances to make the postseason, as they are now 10.5 games behind the division leader and seven games behind the last Wild Card spot in the American League.
As long as there is a mathematical chance, however, Ohtani and the Angels will keep fighting.
It would help if they had one of their best hitters, Mike Trout, but he should be back at some point this month to help the cause.
